Which confirms how I felt about Twitter for years: it's for businesses, to get in touch with other businesses. I also post on Twitter, even getting a couple of likes out of every post and my following has grown a lot there. But that defeats the purpose of Kickstarter? Most YouTubers don't want to advertise the game until it is ready-ish. So far this is the most succesful, but still it only generates an occasional pledge. I have certain YouTubers talking about my game. I understand that they don't like people self advertising, but this rare occasion that is so closely aligned to the topic of your forum? Come on!? I'm sure many people of these communities are interested in such a game. Most online communities (reddits and fora) prohibit me from sharing or talking about my project. At least on Reddit you don't get fake clicks so this essentially costs me nothing. But reddit seems to love adding other reddits and not showing my ad in my suggested reddits. I run an ad on Reddit, targeting subs that may be interested. I'm even getting spam likes by some people, liking and disliking for minutes in a row. I get a lot of likes on my ads, most of them are fake. Wrong?! I'm running paid ads on FB, some directed at people following my development on FB, others at people who are in my target group (crowdfunders, kickstarters, aviation geeks, general gamers and tycoon/strategy gamers my game is an airline tycoon) I got a total of 1 pledge this way. You drown in these places between other posts even more than on Kickstarter itself! Not to mention that half of these groups are filled with 'send me money please, I'm diseased' or something along these lines. General Kickstarter groups, as well as dedicated game groups since I'm promoting a game for PC. Wrong?! I posted in multiple groups, probably for a total of 100k members. They say to advertise on Facebook groups dedicated to crowdfunding. I believe this information is dated: Facebook is dead. 99% of sources state you have to advertise your Kickstarter on social media, especially Facebook.
